Your patient journey starts with a chat by phone or email to discuss what you're hoping to treat. We can also arrange a virtual consultation with Dr Paris (or Dr Alexa) if you'd like to ask questions before deciding whether to book.

We then arrange an in-depth, in-person consultation, where Dr Paris or Dr Alexa assesses your facial structure and any relevant medical background, and takes the time to understand the results you're looking to achieve, before advising the treatment choice(s) best suited to you.

You'll have plenty of time to ask questions and, particularly if you're new to injectables, we'll make sure you are fully informed and comfortable. There is never any pressure to have treatment. If you wish to go ahead, you may do so at the same appointment, if appropriate, or book another date, as suits you.

Profhilo Structura is suited to those noticing:

• early to moderate age-related changes in facial firmness, definition or support

• softening of the contours across the cheeks and mid-face

• or a gentle heaviness developing around the jawline

It suits those who would like subtle, natural support rather than the fuller look of a dermal filler.

Significant or rapid weight loss - including that associated with GLP-1 medications - often leaves the face looking hollowed and fatigued. While this is driven by depleted facial fat pads, it is also caused by a sudden loss of skin elasticity and support. As each face undergoes a unique structural shift during weight loss, our doctors would always assess you individually to determine the optimal treatment choice(s) for structural tissue regeneration and surface skin remodelling.

Structura's sister product, Profhilo®, is more suitable if your main concern is surface hydration, radiance or fine lines. Where significant volume replacement is needed, a different approach may be called for. Dr Paris will advise on the most appropriate option for your specific face at consultation.

Profhilo Structura is formulated with hyaluronic acid, the molecule which occurs naturally in the skin and tissues and binds water to keep them hydrated and supported. It depletes over time with age.

Facial fat, or adipose tissue, sits in distinct compartments (pockets of fat) beneath the skin that give the face its shape and support. With age, these can lose volume and quality, and shift position, softening the contours and definition many people notice over time.

Where a dermal filler is placed to add volume or shape in a specific area, Structura is delivered into the superficial fat itself. It is administered through a fine cannula, usually via a single entry point on each side of the face, allowing precise placement and, for many people, less bruising than multiple needle injections.

Within the fat, it is designed to support the tissue and prompt it to firm and regenerate, helping restore the structure and definition the face loses over time.

Numbing cream is applied beforehand to ensure the treatment is comfortable, and most people tolerate it very well.

Structura treatment is generally gentle as it is delivered through a fine cannula and a single entry point on each side (rather than the multiple needle points used for standard Profhilo).

Downtime is normally minimal. Any small bumps or swelling at the injection points tend to settle within a few hours to 24 hours (typically milder and faster than with standard Profhilo).

You may also notice mild redness, and, as with any injectable, there is a small chance of bruising within 48 hours of treatment.

Profhilo Structura works gradually meaning you'll usually begin to notice an improvement in support and contour over the weeks following treatment, as the tissue remodels.

Optimal results are usually seen around 2 to 3 months, and continue to build after your second session. Individual responses vary.

The usual course is 2 treatments, around a month apart, though some people benefit from a third, depending on your treatment response and desired results.

Results typically last around 6 to 12 months. We usually recommend a maintenance treatment every 6 to 9 months, guided by how you respond.

We recommend that you have Profhilo Structura at least 2 weeks before any important social or work events, and you'll have the second treatment around a month after the first, so we book your appointments accordingly.

To reduce the risk of bruising, we advise you to avoid:

• Alcohol for 24 hours beforehand

• Aspirin, ibuprofen and omega-3 supplements for 2 days before

After treatment, we advise you to:

• Not apply makeup for 30 minutes

• Avoid travelling for 24 hours

• Avoid strenuous exercise, saunas and heat for 24 to 48 hours

• Avoid pressing or massaging the treated area for 48 hours, so the product settles evenly
